I'm not psychic, but...

As much as I love sleek, modern homes, I'm pretty sure my future house will look something like this:

The Selby posted a series of photos from Elisa Nalin's Parisian apartment and I can't help but feel like I'm looking into a crystal ball. I love tons of photos and bright, fun tchotchke's and I have definitely left a vase full of flowers sit too long and decide I like it better that way. I have mixed feelings about this. I love how colorful it is and how she obviously loves old, forgotten things, but is it too much? Here are some more shots from my doppleganger apartment of the fuuuutuuurrrrrre. :)

ART: Because sometimes I forget

Remember a bunch of posts ago when I said I'd start posting art? I'm finally coming through--yeah! Here is a bunch of art I love with messages I need to remember. They're kind of big, beautiful, unsticky, bathroom mirror post-it notes. Enjoy!

I like your drawers

I LOVE this dresser. LOVE. I've seen a lot of dressers where they paint the drawers different colors, but unless you know what you're doing, those tend to look pretty cheesy. But THIS, this is beautiful and doesn't seem TOO hard to DIY. Found it at apartmenttherapy.com.

Before you say, "Jigga! That ain't no drawer," allow me to save you the embarassment--it's drawer from a letterpress chest. All of the little compartments are for the different letters of the alphabet! These drawers hold a special place in my heart (my graphic design geek is showing) and I recently picked one up at my local flea market! I love it and I'm so glad I came across this is a great idea to display my collection of jewelry. I like the contrast between rough, warn wood and beautiful, shiny treasures. I found it at a spanish blog: petunia.typepad.com--I can't understand what else she's saying, but this picture says everything I need to know. :)

This is a great idea to give life and use to some old dresser drawers. I like how they lined the backs, too. Go to casasugar.com to see the before and after.

HOTW: Retro Eclectic

I love this house. It has such a feeling of history without being a sterile museum. I love all the touches of real, green life like the water plants in jars and the cacti--I need to remember to do that in my future house. I like that the wall collages are fun and interesting--not just framed pictures. And since doing this blog and looking around at houses and decor, I've noticed that I'm really attracted to houses with lots of natural light--I think that will be a huge priority when I do finally look for a house.

I found this house over at (where else?) Apartment Therapy. Make sure you check out the slideshow for tons more shots of all the neat little details in this house (there are so many!)

HOTW: Orange & Green = Super Keen

This is an apartment, not technically a house, but i still love it. The simple color palette really ties the small space together. I love the use of necklaces as a trim around the room. The floral art pinned to the wall would be so easy to replicate! It looks like they just ripped them out of a book--something to keep in mind when the walls are blank and the budget it tight.

The whole place just has an airy, natural, unlabored feel to it. It'd make everyday feel like a tropical getaway without the crowded beaches and skimpy suits!

For more pictures (check out the bedroom--very dramatic), head on over to ApartmentTherapy.com.

Sidenote: I realize all of my posts lately have been from AT which is dangerous for me because all (3) followers of this blog could just start following AT and drop ME! I think I'll start posting art I like too, to keep things interesting--art goes on the walls, right?
